Why is Kadai the Best Barbecue to Use on a Fire Stage?

The Fire Stage returns to the Inner Bailey at this year's 30th edition of Ludlow Food Festival, bigger and better than ever before. Sponsoring the Fire Stage is Kadai, the authentic barbecue firebowl brand, with its roots in the rolling hills of Shropshire and the bustling streets of Rajasthan.
These beautiful firebowls were once used as huge cooking bowls throughout India and have now been lovingly repurposed into the firepits we know today.

Let's delve a little deeper into why Kadai is the best barbecue to use on a Fire Stage.

Visibility and Engagement

In the barbecue world, the Kadai stands out as not just a cooking tool, but as a centrepiece that can transform cooking into a theatrical display. Traditional barbecues such as a kamado or kettle simply don't have the same stage presence as the Kadai bowls, with everything happening underneath a lid. Kadai have designed specific bowls to be used at food festivals across the country, featuring a unique opening on the front of the Recycled Kadai. This feature allows spectators to see exactly what's happening in the bowl, turning a cooking demonstration into an engaging learning experience. Chefs can explain and demonstrate how to use different heat zones, providing a practical and visual guide to mastering live fire cooking.

Versatility at its best

With over 40 different cookware accessories, the Kadai is one of the most versatile barbecues on the market, exploring many cooking techniques. Whether it's grilling, sauteing, roasting, slow cooking or even baking, the Kadai can accommodate an array of cooking styles and techniques. This versatility makes it an indispensable tool for chefs who want to showcase a wide range of dishes on the Fire Stage, from traditional barbecued meats to more intricate recipes that require unique accessories.

Theatrics of Live Fire

There is something truly mesmerising about cooking over an open flame, with the crackling charcoal and the aroma of wood smoke all contributing to a sensory experience that gas or electric simply can't match. The Kadais enhance this experience by keeping the fire visible and central to the cooking process, adding flavour and drama to the Fire Stage.

Join us this year in celebrating all things fire and food on the Fire Stage with Kadai. Not only will some of the best live fire chefs from the UK be showcasing their skills, but the stage will also host the first ever British Live Fire Cooking Championships. With three rounds spread across the weekend, be sure not to miss out on watching the action unfold, as Kadai search for the British Live Fire Cooking champion.
